The FJ was released in October 1953, after the success of the 6 year old FX. The FJ saw the release of the Special Sedan, Panel Van, Standard Sedan, previously the utility & Business sedan as released in the FX was also carried through to the FJ. The FJ remained in production until 1956; the utes remained in production until early 1957.

The FJ also saw mass export of Holdens to countries such as New Zealand.
My particular FJ is a 1954 Standard Sedan.
FJ Sedan
I purchased the FJ from the original owners in the Riverina District. This FJ had only travelling 43150 miles since new; for reasons unknown to us it was retired to the garage where it sat untouched for over 30 years, until 2003 when it appeared in a workshop.
During 2004, when completing the restoration of the FX, the FJ became available. We knew of it sitting in the corner of this particular workshop where the FX body work was being carried out.
At one stage of the FJ’s life the interior was completely removed and the car was repainted, and we were advised that this was only done to protect the car’s panels.
After all this time the FJ still contained fuel in the tank & fluid in the brake reservoir.
With all this drained & cleaned we started up the original engine, which to our knowledge has never been out of the car, and was certainly the original untouched engine that had not been run for 30 years.
Up until September 2007, the FJ was still running the Rag tyres that it sat on in the shed, and it never had Indicators fitted
